My family and I are residents of one of the suburbs of Syracuse, a city in and the county seat of Onondaga County, New York, United States. Syracuse is the fifth-most populous city in the state of New York, following New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, and Yonkers. It is the economic and educational hub of Central New York, as it is well-provided with convention sites—with a downtown convention complex and the largest airport in the region— and numerous universities.
Part of the state of New York, which has had over 319,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 19,415 deaths, the city of Syracuse and its suburbs have been subjected to various restrictions, such as the closing of schools, churches and businesses, as well as the strict enforcement of social distancing rules. The various blog posts under the East Coast are mainly of sites in Syracuse and its suburbs. I included these posts to show the effects of COVID-19 on the residents of my hometown.

My family and I are residents of Tacoma, a port city in Pierce County, Washington, United States. Often referred to as the “gateway to Alaska”, we boast one of the largest ports in the United States and are renowned for our fresh seafood and organic produce. Only 34 miles from Seattle, we have access to one of the largest airport hubs in the Pacific Northwest.
When COVID-19 first arrived in the USA, Washington was the hot spot for several weeks until New York was hit. As of May 2020, we have approximately 15,500 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 850 deaths. The blog posts under the West Coast are predominantly sites in Tacoma and Seattle, and are meant to show the lasting impact on both large and small scale cities.
