Malls across NY are forced to close...

Writer's picture: Maryam KamelMaryam Kamel

The normally packed Destiny USA—the largest shopping mall in the state of New York—is vacant of vehicles as a result of county measures to inhibit the spread of the coronavirus. Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon signed an executive order shutting down all county malls, including Destiny USA, in order to “remain ahead of the COVID-19 crisis and enhance Onondaga County’s efforts to flatten the curve through social distancing.”

The second image shows the mall on on a normal day: that is, with its parking lots filled to capacity.
